Coordinate and ensure effective compliance with customer requirements to guarantee product quality across the organization's various operational and manufacturing phases, based on the implementation of control and monitoring systems; additionally, build and maintain effective customer relationships by meeting performance indicators and adhering to the Dana philosophy, thereby positioning the organization as a potential supplier for new projects.
Job Purpose
The Assistant Quality Manager supports the Quality Manager in overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems and processes to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations. This role assists in managing daily quality operations, leading problem-solving initiatives, and coordinating cross-functional efforts to improve product quality and process efficiency. The Assistant Quality Manager also mentors quality team members and helps ensure audit readiness and continuous improvement across the organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the activities of quality teams to ensure consistent execution of inspection, testing, and compliance procedures across production areas.
- Lead or support investigations into quality issues, facilitate root cause analysis, and ensure timely implementation and documentation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Help ensure adherence to industry standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001, as well as customer-specific requirements.
- Support internal and external audit readiness.
- Monitor key quality metrics, identify trends, and prepare reports for management.
- Recommend actions to improve product quality and reduce defects.
- Provide guidance and support to quality technicians and inspectors.
- Assist in developing training materials and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of applicable experience
- 7+ years of experience
Skills
- Proficient in implementing and maintaining QMS frameworks such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Skilled in conducting audits, managing documentation, and ensuring regulatory compliance across production processes.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze quality data, identify trends, and lead root cause investigations.
- Experienced in applying corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and driving continuous improvement initiatives using tools like 8D, FMEA, and SPC.
