Job Purpose
The Quality Technician ensures that products meet established quality standards and specifications by performing inspections, tests, and measurements throughout the manufacturing process. This role supports production teams by identifying defects, documenting non-conformances, and assisting in root cause analysis and corrective actions. The Quality Technician contributes to continuous improvement efforts and helps maintain compliance with customer and industry requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Accurately record inspection results, non-conformances, and test data. Prepare reports for internal use and communicate findings to relevant departments.
- Assist in investigating quality issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
- Operate and maintain precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other testing equipment.
- Ensure calibration and proper usage to maintain accuracy.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and performing audit-related tasks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and process efficiency.
Education and Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Trade School, or Associate’s Degree
- 4+ years of experience
Skills
- Strong working knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949), inspection techniques, and precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methodologies is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to identify defects, analyze data, and support resolution of quality issues.
- Must be detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to ensure product compliance and support process improvements.
