Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive the Design Review (Launch) Process by working with the required Dana groups to ensure activities are successfully completed to support the program according to program timing. 
  • Lead program(s) through critical launch and production issues.
  • Engineering responsibility for customer product development, often working on multiple programs at the same time.
  • Use Application Analysis tool to develop appropriate products (typically driveshaft U joint series and tube and axle model/gear) sizing for vehicle application.
  • Perform technical problem solving to urgently address issues quickly.
  • Develop design proposals to meet customer specifications and test requirements.
  • Prepare and conduct technical presentations (Customer and internal).
  • Define proposals, including sizing, priority, and requirements, following the Design Review Process.
  • Develop and manage documents such as DVP&Rs and DFMEAs, etc., to support customer programs.
  • Work collaboratively with internal functions – Program Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, and Engineering Management during sourcing, vehicle development, launch, and production.
  • Work collaboratively with external customers and suppliers. 
  • Interface with customer engineering and other disciplines as required to provide complete support through all building phases of development.
  • Track and drive Lessons Learned items to closure.  Provide a read across to various customer programs
  • Develop and support cost savings initiatives and proposals.
  • Analyze warranty data and develop effective counter measures.
  • Other tasks assigned by manager.

Education and Qualifications

  • Education: BSME degree. Graduate degree in engineering field is a plus.
  • Greater than 5 years of experience in EDU, Driveline, Powertrain or related automotive industry engineering. (Outstanding graduates optional)
  • Have one of CAD software capabilities, Catia, NX, Creo
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, along with strong analytical capability.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within cross function team and customers in a professional manner.  Ability to develop strong customer relationships
  • Knowledge of automotive quality standards including APQP, DVP&R, 8D, PPAP, VA/VE, & FMEA
  • Must be self-directed and motivated individual who is willing to accept responsibility.
  • Must be a self-directed, motivated, and organized individual who is willing to accept responsibility.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both in written and verbal
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally. And Willing and able to work excess hours when necessary.
