Materials Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Job Purpose

Supervise the shipping and receiving functions of a particular shift.  Ensure proper receipt of direct and MRO material and the delivery of all material to its proper location.  Execute the shipping of finished goods (materials or products) according to the customer’s requirements. 

 

This is a second shift posiotn.  

Job Duties and Responsibilities

•    Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
•    Supervise Cycle counters and daily inventory activities.
•    Responsible for inventory accuracy, inventory turns and reducing carrying cost.
•    Effectively interview, hire, and train employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewarding and disciplining employees as appropriate; addresses complaints and resolves problems as applicable.
•    Participate and support month end and year-end inventories.
•    Supervise month end, year-end inventory and Material Handling personnel.
•    Manage material flow and storage capacity.
•    Manage fork truck check cards and institute fork truck safety and monitor adherence.
•    Manage all projects and complete assignments as directed by Materials Superintendent and Materials Manager.
•    Supports the comprehensive continual improvement philosophy.
•    Adheres to and follows the facility Quality Management System and the facility Environmental Management system requirements in business actions.
•    Ability to support all clerk responsibilities including acting as backup when necessary.
•    Performs job functions in accordance with all safety, legal and Company policies and direction.
•    Effectively communicates with supervisors and other departments to coordinate material flow and reduce cost.
•    Responsible for reducing department overhead cost where feasible.
•    Manage Shipping and Receiving functions including hours and operations.
•    Perform all time and attendance requirements for staff.
•    Time management, attention to detail and ability to problem solve are key to success in this position. 


Education & Experience Required/Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree in Operations, Supply Chain or related business field preferred. 
  • SAP knowledge
  • 5+ Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in a Union Environment.
