Position Summary

We’re looking for a Supplier Development Engineer in Reggio Emilia Location.

The SDE will Support purchasing in the supplier selection process by approving new suppliers, monitoring suppliers APQP and performing process audits (PSR). Monitor supplier’s performance KPIs and propose / manage supplier improvement plans. Support in case of supplier escalations by going onsite when required.

Main Responsibilities

 

• To conduct supplier system assessment audits at the suppliers with reference to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, Special Process Modules, Continuous Quality Improvement requirements and any other additional requirements specific to the customer and the company

• Report to the responsible Regional Supplier Development Manager/Director when major issues occur. (Ex. Project timing failure, production line stop, customer disturbance, audit status)

• To drive continuous improvements throughout the assigned supplier base.

• To report the current status of all parts undergoing APQP through proactive discussions with Regional SD Mgt., Launch and Project teams

• In case the supplier cannot solve issues highlighted during suppliers APQP process, to collate all information required for decision making and escalate as appropriate within the organization

• To support Dana plants globally in case of escalations

• Ensure that all purchased parts are ready for PPAP approval to the appropriate level during the APQP process.

• Works with suppliers to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and lean principles to assure purchased components meet specifications

• Ensures the quality assurance of sourced products through Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including control plan development, product qualifications, etc.

• To be the voice of quality in their respective Regional/Global Commodity Strategy meetings.

• To support capacity assessment in order to mitigate production line stop risk.

• To lead commodity meetings for the responsible area (top worst suppliers, improvement plans)

• Other duties as assigned

Job Position Requirements

 

Education: University bachelor degree - Mechanical / Mechatronic

 

Professional background 

Preferred Supplier Quality/Development engineer, minimum 5 years

 

Hard skills 

Essential: Mechanical background and/or Electric and Electronics.
