Job Purpose
A Plant Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, overseeing budgeting and cost management, and conducting financial analysis specifically for a manufacturing plant.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurate and timely input of journal entries and management of the monthly closing process.
- Assist with accurate and timely preparation of internal management reports.
- Prepare and validate reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare financial schedules used for quarterly external reporting.
- Develop working knowledge of plant activities relevant to a plant accountant.
- Ensure compliance with all Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
- Perform self-assessment testing of internal controls when needed.
- Provide support for plant controllers, financial analysts, and operations, as needed.
- Facilitate requests from internal and external auditors, providing detailed and reliable information.
- Respond timely to ad-hoc requests for financial analysis and decision support.
- Cross train with AP / AR to provide back up support when needed.
- Collaborate with other Shared Service groups to standardize and improve processes.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree is required, accounting degree is preferred.
- Experience in a shared service or plant operations is preferred.
- Flexible schedule and willing to work extra hours when necessary.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience required.

- SAP experience preferred.
