Dana Canada Corporation’s Power Technologies Group has an immediate opening for a Product Engineer in our Battery Cooling  group focusing on the design and development of products and technologies for the thermal management of electrified vehicles at our R&D facility at 656 Kerr Street, Oakville, ON.

Reporting to one of our Product Development Engineering Managers, the successful applicant’s principal responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating technology trends to align Dana development with changes in the automotive market
  • Interacting with customers to develop thermal management solutions specific to their applications
  • Evaluating customer specifications to develop and size battery coolers
  • Coordinating with internal teams to design heat exchangers and manufacturing processes, including CAD approvals and verification of dimensions & tolerances
  • Utilizing the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for product development
  • Developing test procedures, maintaining test plans (DVP&R) and leading design analyses (FMEA)
  • Liaising with the CAE team for simulation and the laboratories for life testing
  • Managing large prototype builds, including sourcing of components and verification of parts
  • Aiding manufacturing, production, purchasing and sales teams in product costing
  • Supporting production launches of power electronics coolers in North America, Europe and Asia

 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Chemical, Electrical,  or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in Automotive Industry with focus on design/testing related to Electrification is an asset
  • Eligibility for P.Eng. registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Formal organizational skills along with demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
  • Well rounded background and a desire to follow technology development trends
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Quality, Safety and Environmental standards (IATF16949 & ISO14001)
  • Proficiency in English required, additional languages (German, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin) are an asset
