Dana Canada Corporation’s Power Technologies Group has an immediate opening for a Materials Manager to  oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements.

 

Located at 656 Kerr Street, Oakville, and reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful applicant’s principal responsibilities include

 

• Ensure all Dana Operating Systems [DOS] are followed and proper techniques are used. 

• Be aware and knowledgeable of the core competencies such as strategic thinking, building talent and   

  organizational capability, effective approach, and results orientation 

• Assess requirements for materials and supplies to be purchased 

• Track all premium freight and delivery to suppliers/customers 

• Manage and develop the staff in the materials department 

• Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress, and contact suppliers to resolve issues 

• Responsible for achieving and monitoring plant inventory levels 

• Perform all duties and other tasks which may be assigned in compliance with IATF and ISO 14001   

  Requirements 

• Conduct LPA audits and support plant safety objectives and those of the CFT (Cross Functional Team) by participating in monthly Safety-First audits and JHSC meetings 

• Responsible for customer service and on time delivery for production  

• Responsible for capacity and manpower planning for production and materials groups 

• Responsible for non-prod purchasing  

 

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in a related field preferred 
  • Previous Experience in a managerial capacity within a manufacturing production environment. 
  • Strong people skills with high sense of urgency 
  • Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety & Quality 
  • Experience in Automotive Industry is preferred
  • Formal organizational skills along with demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
  • Well rounded background and a desire to follow technology development trends
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is an asset
