Dana Canada Corporation's Power Technologies Group is a leading Canadian manufacturer of Automotive Components for the OEM and Aftermarket Transportation Industry. Our Engineering group has an opening for a Laboratory Technologist at our R&D Center in Oakville, Ontario.
Dana is a global leader in vehicle power transmission and cooling systems. The student will work on-site at our global tech center for thermal products in Oakville, ON. This position offers the student great exposure to many aspects of the automotive industry, from concept to production and everything in between.
Successful applicants will be fully engaged with their team leaders, (many of whom have been coops themselves), and teams building their professional knowledge through work on practical designs that build innovative heat-transfer solutions for automotive customers, and develop the nascent engineer's knowledge and skills in aluminum metallurgy, thermal dynamics, prototype-building and testing, customer interface and team work.
Primary responsibilities:
- Perform metallurgical, mechanical, cleanliness and chemical testing in support of day-today operation of laboratory for automotive component process development and/or new product or process development
- Execute sample preparation and experimental testing using internal equipment / facilities
- Compose laboratory reports, sample collection and compilation of data in support of process and product investigations
- Deliver timely laboratory support for problem solving, material and process investigations, and product development activities
- Deliver for timely/rapid turnaround time for lab requests, and provide support for lab equipment maintenance and adherence to H&S and Quality standards
Skills Required:
- Familiarity with automotive QS requirements, DOE methods and PC-based data acquisition techniques will be an asset.
- Must be self-motivated, detailed orientated, results orientated, and able to deliver multiple project activities in a fast paced environment
- Must have good communication and customer-support skills, and proven ability to organize and document experimental conditions and results
- Interest in the automotive industry
- Good organizational skills
- Hands-on experience is a plus
