Job Purpose

Directs the activities associated with the SCMG-managed global spend for a designated commodity category. Responsible for the identification and evaluation of North American opportunities within the commodity category for the reduction of spend, consolidation of processes, functions, and continuity of supply.  Manages the Dana contracts within the commodity category and reports the metrics associated with them. Delivers continuous improvement in cost, process, and services within the commodity category.  Will be responsible for requests for information (RFI) or quote (RFQ). Generates recommendations based on Total Cost of Ownership comparisons. Monitors and reports on activities associated with the named commodity category.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing activities for axle tubing materials, including RFQs, bid evaluations, and sourcing recommendations
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with company goals and cost‑reduction targets.
  • Identify, assess, and qualify potential suppliers for tubing and tube assemblies
  • Build, manage, and maintain strong relationships with tubing suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery performance
  • Monitor supplier performance and lead resolution of complex commercial, quality, and operational issues.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, long‑term agreements, and contract conditions for axle tubing supply.
  • Perform cost breakdown analysis and evaluate supplier cost structures for tubing and related components.
  • Ensure timely delivery of axle tubing to support plant operations and new program launches. Supports technical review and APQP processes.
  • Formulate annual business plans for the achievement of cost reductions and year-over-year performance improvement.
  • Ability to clearly understand the supplier’s viewpoint & communicate that to internal stakeholders.
  • Resolve PO issues, invoice discrepancies, and material availability concerns.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management on tubing specifications and technical reviews.
  • Lead or support VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) initiatives for tubing cost competitiveness.
  • Basic understanding of monitoring supplier performance (Supplier Scorecard) and when support is needed for development.  
  • Is aware of the purchasing processes that are necessary to manage the purchasing tasks.  Takes personal responsibility to adhering to the processes

Education and Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Business (Supply Chain Management or Purchasing is preferred) or four-year degree in Engineering (Product or Manufacturing)
  • Professional Supply Chain certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferred
  • Strong team player, able to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Maintains an organized and professional manner when representing Dana.
  • Willing to travel as required (estimate 10%).
