Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the team in terms of design, specification, development, implementation and troubleshooting of the test cells as well as product testing in the Mechatronics and Test Lab.   

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop test processes and equipment that optimizes quality and efficiency.  
  • Support / Implement continuous improvement ideas to improve lab safety and efficiency. 
  • Developing and implementing long term plan for equipment controls upgrades 
  • Provide operator training as requested. 
  • Lead the coordination activates within the Test Lab and cross functional teams supporting new test equipment or controls required for product testing. 
  • Lead the activities for developing test equipment controls and product control interface with test equipment.  
  • Assist in troubleshooting controls issues. 
  • Training of technicians to properly and safely operate lab equipment. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in BSEE or equivalent degree preferred. 
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or testing environment. 
  • Ability to generate and understand electrical drawings (AutoCAD). 
  • Programming of controls software (LabVIEW, PLC’s) experience preferred. 
  • Practical experience with control devices, thermocouples, wiring, sensors, electric motors, VFD’s and troubleshooting 
  • Experience with laboratory equipment (Oscilloscope, function generator, multimeter, AC/DC power supplies) 
  • Understanding of and experience with DVP&R 
  • Knowledge and implementation experience of Ethernet and serial data protocols, particularly CAN, preferred. 
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills, problem solving, team building, planning and decision making. 
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office.   
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays and off-shifts as requested.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. 
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs. repetitively and stand for approximately 80% of the time.
