Job Purpose

The Sr. Platform Development Engineer is responsible for leading the system level development of an ePropulsion product platform to be used as a starting point for customization for end customers. The emphasis is on developing a flexible baseline focused on meeting product targets defined in the product strategy by engaging with internal teams and suppliers for all required subsystems and components

Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

Platform Strategy

  • Support the product segment champion for ePropulsion in defining targets for continuous development and improvement of assigned product platform(s).

 

Platform Execution

  • Execute platform development activities according to One Dana Product Development Platform Design Review Process. Responsible for delegating and delivering high quality work products focusing on maximizing reuse.
  • Develop reusable product platforms aligned to product strategy targets for the platform.
  • Work closely with the technology development engineering team to identify high value technologies and integrate them into product platforms. High value technologies are those which improve product reuse, performance, cost, and other metrics as defined in product strategy.

 

Leadership

  • This is a relationship-based engineering role which provides overall platform direction to a cross functional technical team without direct reporting. Ability to direct, motivate, and mentor that team will be critical to success.
  • Support strong and independent business unit application engineering teams in the reuse of platforms in new applications with integration documentation and customer funded customization.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline; master’s degree preferred
  • 7 years of powertrain engineering work (design, simulation, testing, calibration, software, or systems)
  • Advanced knowledge in systems integration, mechanical design, product validation.
  • Proficient knowledge of relationship-based leadership, full system modeling, systems architecture, functional safety, FEA/CFD simulation.
  • Basic knowledge of embedded product cybersecurity, embedded SW, electronic HW
