Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Calibration Engineer to support the development and validation of propulsion system calibrations for next-generation electrified and hybrid powertrains. This role is instrumental in ensuring robust, efficient, and compliant performance across all key functional domains including torque control, thermal management, power modulation, diagnostics, and functional safety.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, verify, and refine calibrations for propulsion system functions such as:
      - Power Control, Torque control, Thermal management, On-board diagnostics (OBD), Functional safety (ASIL-level calibrations)
  • Collect and analyze system and vehicle-level test data through both virtual simulations and in-vehicle testing, ensuring calibration maturity at each program milestone.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for calibration-related issues and maintain thorough documentation of findings and resolutions.
  • Utilize calibration tools such as ETAS INCA, Vector vCDM, and Concerto for dataset management and parameter optimization.
  • Interpret and work with MATLAB/Simulink models and embedded C code for control algorithm understanding and traceability.
  • Operate motor-inverter dynamometer systems and execute structured test procedures to calibrate electric propulsion systems.
  • Support cross-functional teams with insights from calibration analysis and contribute to software and hardware issue triage.
  • Ensure quality, timing, and performance targets are met through continuous validation and improvement of calibration data sets.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in powertrain development and/or calibration (EV, HEV).
  • Proficiency with:
      - Calibration and data acquisition tools (INCA, vCDM, MATLAB)
      - Root cause analysis methods and diagnostic data interpretation
      - Reading and understanding embedded control models (Simulink, C code)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with electrified propulsion systems including motor/inverter calibration and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of statistics and statistical analysis techniques applied to calibration optimization.
  • Familiarity with propulsion calibration test equipment and software such as:
      - ETA, ZINCA, Concerto
      - Dyno interface software (e.g., AVL Puma)
  • Exposure to functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and diagnostic compliance (e.g., OBD-II, UDS protocols).
  • Ability to manage complex calibration projects across multiple software versions and hardware configurations.
