Position Summary
We’re looking for an Application Engineer in Luserna San Giovanni (TO). Application Engineer will lead the engineering efforts of major projects at assembly plant. The individual will be responsible for delivering the solution and for controlling all the engineering and prototyping aspects of the project, including schedule, quality, and costs, related to activities during production phases. The Application Engineer will support the engineering development team during industrialization and early-life phases for all the activities at the assembly plant, taking the lead once project has been launched. This individual will have the ability to work in a dynamic environment with challenging deadlines. The job responsibilities will be very varied as it will touch many aspects of the growing Electrification group and will include some of the following responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities
- Leads all engineering activities at the assembly plant (excluding Manufacturing Engineering), ensuring effective coordination between project engineering and the assembly floor during industrialization.
- Represents Engineering in internal and customer meetings for products in production, communicating milestones, issues, change requests, and risks to ensure alignment.
- Prepares Engineering Design and Testing cost estimates, tracks project spend, and secures cost recovery for production phase design changes in collaboration with Sales and stakeholders.
- Supports Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives for industrialized products as the Engineering representative.
- Leads engineering development from technical evaluation through production for aftermarket opportunities and new applications based on industrialized products.
- Ensures clear and timely communication with internal and external stakeholders, escalating engineering risks and issues impacting the assembly plant or production.
- Acts as Engineering liaison with Plant and Customer Quality teams, supporting issue resolution during industrialization and early production (assembly issues, scrap, deviations, and customer claims).
- Leads engineering change management activities on the assembly line, ensuring timely and controlled implementation of design, process, or technology changes.
- Drives the capture and sharing of lessons learned from production issues to prevent recurrence in future projects.
- Defines and reports engineering KPIs related to launch performance, production efficiency, and on time delivery.
Job Position Requirements
Education: University bachelor degree - Electrical, Mechanical or Software Engineering
Professional background
- Experience in the automotive industry in a development environment, preferably at Tier1 or OEM e-propulsion department
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in powertrain or e-powertrain systems
- Knowledge of electrified powertrains. This means having the background and ability to think at the electrified powertrain system level.
We are looking for candidates that next to skills at this system level have specific skills in any of the following domains:- Electronic hardware (ECU and power electronics)
- Mechanical hardware (motor, hydraulics, gearbox)
- Controls & software
- Electromagnetic, NVH or thermal analysis
Hard skills
Essential:
- Relevant experience in requirements management tools e.g., Design, CAE, ASPICE, CMMI, Agile, PDP, Polarion, etc.
- Proven problem solving techniques (e.g. RedX, Ishikawa diagrama, 5-Whys)
- Experience in working with with PLM system (e.g. Teamcenter)
- Basic understanding and ability to utilize CAD softwares (e.g. Creo Parametric)
- Advanced skills in drafting technical reports and presentations with Microsoft Office tools
- Experience in automotive functional safety according to ISO26262 Aspice
- Fuent in English
