Job Purpose

 

The Lean Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for planning, designing, and facilitating Dana Operating System (DOS) / Lean projects resulting in improvements in Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost and Morale.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement/drive and manage Continuous Improvement and DOS strategies to Dana Corporate guidelines. 
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the application of Six Sigma tools and Lean methodologies.
  • Report results and issues to various audiences from key executives to the process team. 
  • Drive systems thinking and process orientation throughout the manufacturing organization.
  • Identify areas for improvement, complete reports and record continuous improvement efforts using appropriate tools.
  • Drive the DOS strategy and roadmap for the Louisville facility
  • Demonstrate understanding, enthusiasm and passion for what DOS can accomplish in Dana and visibly promote this at all levels in the group
  • Facilitate the identification, selection, prioritization and assignment of projects with an emphasis on those that have breakthrough potential.
  • Lead the application of DOS tools and appropriate project planning tools to improve processes, eliminate waste, and reduce cycle time. Expand projects across the North American Light Vehicle Division group and measure results
  • Drive the ongoing institutionalization of solutions for assessing DOS performance in alignment with customer and financial goals.
  • Be responsible and accountable for project executions from inception to completion, including communication of results and verification.
  • Train plant workforce in required lean initiatives
  • Analyze scrap data and offer countermeasures recommendations
  • Deploy 5S and visual management across all value streams Plant subject matter expert for Continuous Improvement (E.g.: Problem Solving, 5S, Standardized Work, Line Balance, SMED, VSM etc.).
  • Facilitate and Lead Kaizens.
  • Facilitate Development of Plant Continuous Improvement Roadmap
    • CI Activities
    • CI Savings projects
  • Implement process improvements that reduce the facilities operating cost.
  • Constantly Improve the Quality of Problem Solving.
  • Champion the Implementation and Use of Shop Floor & Ignition
  • Facilitate Improvement Initiative Priorities & Go-Forward Plans.
  • Partner with Operations Manager & Support Function Leaders.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and relevant work experience.
  • Trained and proficient in DOS / Six Sigma or Lean methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success in leading Black Belt projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be a team player that solicits diverse ideas and viewpoints and possess strong facilitation, teaching and coaching skills.
  • Good computer/database management skills with process mapping and documentation skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
