Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage an overall risk-based environmental, Health and Safety program
  • Manage and maintain site ISO 14001 & 45001 management systems.
  • Liaison with DRMS H&S personnel to make certain that all necessary H&S protocols are implemented and to help with H&S training and the utilization of other H&S resources supplied by DRMS.
  • Develop processes to help assure that proper safety and health provisions are incorporated into all jobs performed at the facility, employing techniques of hazard analysis, job safety analyses and safe job procedures.
  • Prepare us for OHSAS implementation.
  • Develop an accident and near miss investigation program. Track near missies and lost time accidents to determine injury trends and identify root cause with corrective action reviews.
  • Facilitate new hire orientations and conduct annual safety & health training.
  • Develop a specific facility Emergency Response and Evacuation program with periodic evaluation drills to assure the program’s effectiveness.
  • Maintain PPE program
  • Develop a program of early intervention with all new building additions and operations to assure that operations layout, life safety, machinery and equipment, safe job procedures etc. are set up in compliance with regulatory requirements, including compliance of the Contractor H & S Program.
  • Administer the company’s procedures related to safety and health, and environmental compliance (OHSAS 18001). Conduct training and retraining of the procedures in accordance with each procedure.
  • Prepare safety presentation materials for monthly employee meetings (5-Minute Safety Talks).
  • Investigate accidents and injuries and assist supervisors in the completion of accident investigation reports and problem-solving activities. Identify patterns of injuries and determine whether unsafe conditions contributed to the injury. Provide supervisors with information that will aid in reducing accidents and improve safety.
  • Supervise the company’s Emergency Response Plan and schedule unannounced annual drills (Evacuation/Emergency Shelter/Spill Drills).
  • Oversee hazard assessment procedures and ensure updated documentation is prepared and available in accordance with the procedures.
  • Conduct routine Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for new and existing workstations to identify and eliminate hazards, and to provide training and re-training to supervisors and employees.
  • Develop processes to help assure that proper safety and health provisions are incorporated into all jobs performed at the facility, employing techniques of hazard analysis, job safety analyses and safe job procedures.
  • Organize and conduct, where feasible, all necessary safety & health training as required by regulatory law and Dana best practices. Utilize Dana corporate H&S and outside contractor resources to help with H&S training. Follow Dana corporate H&S directives and guidelines for all safety and health provisions including safety training.
  • Manage a regulatory agency compliance preparation and response program designed to train personnel on various regulatory agency regulations and develop a regulatory agency response team should an agency inspector arrive at the facility.
  • Develop an operational checklist regarding all OSHA requirements for 29 CFR General Industry 1910 and all Subparts to help assure that the facility meets regulatory requirements and other risk-based H&S provisions as necessary to help assure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Set-up and chair a plant safety team. Safety team should be trained in hazard analysis, regulatory compliance standards, machine guarding, ergonomics, accident investigation and other basic H&S matters pertaining to the facility.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in H&S or related sciences prefered.
  • 5+ years EH&S experience
  • Integrate safety and health culture within all operations and at all levels of shop floor and management teams.
  • ASP, GSP, or CSP preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills
