Job Purpose
The Production Supervisor oversees the company’s production operations. They are responsible for ensuring materials and supplies flow smoothly, machines are functional, and production facilities adhere to safety standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement ideas to continuously improve safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping toward set goals.
• Understand and implement union contract and plant policies fairly and consistently.
• Monitor and adjust production/work assignments based on customer demand and part availability.
• Counseling and disciplinary action when needed.
• Assist in the orientation & training of new Team Members
• Coordinate schedule with production control and other supervisors.
• Communicate with Operations Manager, other supervisors, and other disciplines to minimize problems.
• Evaluation and feedback on individual performance.
• Monitor daily production reports on downtime, set-up time, productivity, and housekeeping and develop/implement correction actions.
• Document and report necessary productivity reports, attendance, overtime, etc.
• Review daily production requirements and effectively utilize manning to meet production requirements with the greatest efficiency
• Focus on quality assurance of our product. Participate in NCP review. Address any and all quality issues immediately.
• Develop a 5S plan, mentor team leads to raise awareness of 5S requirements, evaluate condition daily, follow-up on condition that is not within standard.
• Ensure the safety of all employees by: educating employees on accident policies and procedures, report all accidents, injuries, and near misses as required. Communicate effectively all information regarding any accident within the department. Address any and all safety issues immediately.
• Participate in DOS events and be proactive in predicting abnormalities in area and taking action to correct.
• Execute attendance and overtime policies
• Performs any other duties as assigned
Basic Requirements:
• Must be willing and able to work 2nd shift, but be flexible to work others as required
• Must be willing and able to work daily overtime and weekend overtime as needed to support customer needs
• Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and experience utilizing lean tools.
• Candidate must have technical competency and be mechanically inclined (i.e. basic understanding of how production equipment functions).
• Must have computer skills to include MS Office programs.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret technical documents; may include blueprints, processes, and quality documentation.
• Must have leadership skills; a strong work ethic; good decision-making skills; and good listening skills.
• Must have the ability to be a proactive, energetic leader and be a team player.
• Must have the ability to deal with people in a professional and ethical manner. This includes work assignments, constructive and consistent application of disciplinary policies, training people in the department, generating and maintaining a team concept to meet Dana’s goals and objectives.
Required Education & Experience:
• A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; however, Associate Degree's or higher in technical fields are highly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of previous supervisory experience or equivalent manufacturing experience in a lead role
