Job Purpose

The Plant Manager (PM) must effectively organize, lead & manage all functional elements of the facility. The PM must embrace corporate & business unit initiatives including lean manufacturing & implementation of the Dana Operating System (based on the Toyota Production System (TPS)). The PM will maintain a workforce of highly motivated employees with a morale that is conducive with performance being measured at or above minimum acceptable levels, drive performance to achieve or exceed financial plans & strategic goals. The PM operates within the overall framework of Dana strategies, set objectives, & procedures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

o    Full plant P&L responsibility including strategy, policies, processes, practices, systems
o    Provide leadership & mgt of people, processes, & products including, but not limited to:
o    Manufacturing &/or assembly operations
o    Sales; finance (operating budget, cost controls, capital mgt, AP/AR etc.)
o    Supply chain mgt (procurement/distribution)
o    Inventory mgt
o    Environmental/occupational health & safety
o    Employee selection & development
o    Labor relations
o    Continuous improvement (cost, quality, productivity, operational excellence)
o    Metrics & reporting
o    Program mgt
o    Product launches
o    Facilities & equipment, & engineering 
o    Communicate well at all levels within the organization as well as externally with customers, suppliers & the community    
o    Establish credibility (through Lean knowledge, business acumen, & plant-specific knowledge) with Business Unit & other executive leadership to influence basic strategy & effective inclusion of long-range improvements to Business Unit plans  
 
Minimum Qualifications
o    Bachelor’s in engineering or related technical field preferred; Post-secondary education in business administration, engineering, quality mgt or purchasing-materials mgt may be considered
o    At least 10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment which supports lean principles
o    Proven record of success driving lean enterprise wide & with high growth including multiple product launches.
o    Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, lean deployment, six sigma & world class manufacturing systems          
o    Self-starter – results-oriented with a record of demonstrated successes accomplished through teamwork      
o    Superior communication skills & teaching abilities
o    Strategy development experience
o    Demonstrated experience in leading & transforming manufacturing cultures from mass to lean production      
o    Strong business & financial acumen      
o    Experience in developing business strategies & plans, operating forecasts, performance metrics & reports, & safety & quality certification processes  
o    Progressively responsible mgt & supervisory experience in manufacturing, with responsibility for multiple plants or manufacturing disciplines
