Job Purpose
The purpose of the Quality Systems Engineer is to conduct frequent and detailed quality checks to ensure that products and processes are consistent with industry, legal, and client demands.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
• Manage the internal audit function for quality system.
• Develop the internal audit system for continuous improvement.
• Manage documentation change.
• Incorporate risk assessment into development of Process FMEA/Control Plan/ WI’s to ensure process controls deliver continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
• MSA and capabilities studies of new and current gages and equipment.
• Support FMEA development as part of cross-functional team.
• Address quality rejects and customer returned material.
• Application of statistical techniques and assistance to others as required.
• Manage and track progress of Advanced Quality Planning activities.
• Monitor and help control scrap; including pareto and corrective action analysis.
• Monitor, analyze and report on facility key indicators and associated improvement action plans.
• Assist in supplier development as required.
• Assist with process improvements and data analysis.
• Support continuous improvement activities.
• Conduct process capability studies and quality audits.
• Conduct customer visits and reviews.
• Other duties as required.
Skills Required:
• Mastered Experience with FMEA’s, Process Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong project management skills and leadership abilities.
• Assertive and self-motivated.
• Solid manufacturing background including manufacturing, finance and engineering.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional activities.
• Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication (both written and oral) in English.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office programs. Minitab or other statistical program.
• Proficient in the understanding of Engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
• Proficient in understanding of APQP and program management techniques.
Typical Experience Required/Preferred (include management experience or other specifics):
• Associates degree or higher in Engineering, preferably in Quality, Industrial or Mechanical engineering with 2-5 years’ experience required.
o Work experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, with experience in the automotive industry preferred.
• Demonstrated competence in Quality related statistics.
• Certified Quality Auditor for IATF-16949 preferred, or attained within one year of hire/placement.
• Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Must be capable of performing duties with limited supervision.
