Job Purpose

To manage and coordinate the flow of raw materials, components, and supplies necessary for automotive manufacturing and assembly operations. The Materials Supervisor ensures timely procurement, accurate inventory control, and efficient material handling to support production schedules, minimize downtime, and uphold quality and safety standards. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setup and monitor daily “yard dog” routes with input from scheduling for next day pickups.
  • Monitor inventory FIFO methods are being followed. 
  • Supervise cycle count activities and personnel
  • Supervise Shipping/Receiving clerk ensuring accuracy and timely completion of paperwork.
  • Obtain and ensure closing of Load Sheets for shipments.
  • Review returnable dunnage and setup BOL and schedule Shipments as needed.
  • Attend Daily Diamond meetings (as applicable)
  • Manage Receiving dock for MRO, RPA, and FedEx transactions or shipments.
  • Hold employees accountable for safety, transaction accuracy, housekeeping, and contractual agreements.
  • Ensure production lines are supplied with raw materials and ensure smooth flow of material throughout the plant.
  • Ensure outbound shipments to customers leave on time, ASN submission and Documentation completed.
  • Ensure Incoming supplier shipments are received on time, ASN receipts and documentation completed
  • Daily communication with planning team. Which from time to time will include reports to the materials team.

 
Required Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED plus 3-5 years’ experience in shipping and receiving
  • Documented work experience with MRP and JIT systems
  • Knowledge of Shipping/Receiving processes, including safe loading/unloading
  • Knowledge of safe dock practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft software and general computer literacy. 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, problem solving, decision making, teamwork and organizational skills

 
Desired Skills: 

  • Knowledge of Customer based information web sites would be an asset.
  • SAP
  • Leadership skills
