Job Purpose
To strategically manage material planning processes by analyzing demand forecasts, production schedules, and supplier capabilities, ensuring timely availability of materials while minimizing inventory costs and disruptions. The Senior Material Planner serves as a key liaison between procurement, production, and supply chain teams, driving continuous improvement and supporting operational excellence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and oversee detailed material planning strategies based on production forecasts, and customer demand.
- Monitor and adjust inventory to ensure availability while minimizing excess stock and carrying costs.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, logistics, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve material issues.
- Use ERP systems and analytics tools to interpret trends, forecast material needs, and support decision-making.
- Identify inefficiencies in material planning processes and lead continuous improvement projects to enhance accuracy, responsiveness, and cost-effectiveness.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of applicable experience
- 7+ years of experience
Skills
- Ability to interpret complex production forecasts, demand trends, and supply constraints.
- Develop strategic material plans that optimize inventory and support production goals.
- Proficient in using advanced planning tools and ERP systems. (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Manage material flows, monitor inventory, and generate actionable insights.
- Strong ability to collaborate with procurement, production, logistics, and suppliers.
- Leading initiatives and mentoring junior planners to improve planning accuracy and supply chain performance.
