Job Duties and Responsibilities

The DOS Group Leader role will be responsible for training and development at all levels on the shop floor. They will be responsible for initiating lean manufacturing principles and developing standardized methods to improve stability and efficiency. They will be required to work in cross-functional teams with all other departments.


Development of the shop floor

  • Understanding of assembly process and ability to work with other groups to foster continuous improvements.
  • Accomplishing plant wide-goals and objectives for efficiency, utilization, scrap reduction, quality, safety, on-time delivery and Lean initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to effectively lead the workforce.
  • Addressing concerns and problem solving while creating a team environment.
  • Maintaining and understanding production processes to include complying with quality systems.
  • Ability to assure the development and conformance to Standardized Work and other processes.
  • Implement and administer 5S standards.
  • Promote a safe work environment and be pro-active in assessing potential ergonomic issues.
  • Participation on the safety and ergonomic teams.

 

Quality and production of product

  • The DOS Group Leader will be responsible for ensuring all safety / quality requirements will be adhered to by any changes implemented on the shop floor by their project scopes.
  • The DOS Group Leader is expected to participate in the improvement or development of processes.  They will be required to complete or assist with the completion of the following:
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • Time Measurement sheets, Work Balance Charts, Standardized Work Combination Tables. (Lean Tool Proficiency)
    • Standardized Work Creation and implementation.
    • Failure Mode & Effects Analysis
    • Assembly Standardized Work and support engineering Work Instructions.
    • Assembly Line Layout
    • Action Plans for assembly lines

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Previous Group Leader experience preferred.
  • The ability to work any shift. (Training and engagement on all shifts will be required)
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of products and the production process, Lean Principles and employee relations.
  • The ability to deal with multiple priorities and deal with stressful situations.
  • The ability to perform task in a specific time frame.
  • The ability to adhere to all ethical business practices and treatment of employees.
  • The ability to focus on problems or issues and to resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
