Job Purpose
The Maintenance Engineer ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of manufacturing equipment and systems within an automotive production facility. This role is responsible for developing and executing preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and optimize production output. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement technical solutions, maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards, and support capital projects and equipment upgrades.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and automation-related issues in production equipment and systems.
- Lead or support timely corrective actions to restore functionality and reduce production impact.
- Support or lead capital improvement projects, including equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure successful implementation.
- Conduct root cause analysis of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance, safety, and efficiency.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, equipment history, and technical documentation.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of applicable experience
- 3+ years of experience
Skills
- Strong ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in automotive production.
- Proficiency with PLCs, robotics, conveyors, and other automated equipment.
- Ability to analyze root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
