Job Purpose
Manage a local risk-based Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) program in accordance with Dana’s corporate policies and procedures. Develop annual EHSS business plans identifying functional activities, training, machine guarding, ergonomic and other EHSS improvements needed with action plans and target implementation dates.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify historical loss experience and statistical improvement goals for both short and long-term success.
- Integrate an EHSS culture within all operations and at all levels of shop floor and management teams.
- Assure compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
- Comply with all corporate EHSS reporting protocols including shared learnings.
- Develop, implement and obtain a registered safety management system in accordance with Dana’s corporate safety management policies and ISO 45001 criteria.
- Organize and conduct all necessary EHSS training as required legally and in accordance with Dana’s training matrix.
- Prepare an OSHA inspection and response program designed to train personnel on OSHA regulations and develop an OSHA response team should an OSHA inspector arrive at the facility in accordance to Dana’s corporate policies and procedures.
- Develop an operational checklist regarding all OSHA requirements for 29 CFR General Industry 1910 and all Subparts to help assure that the facility meets regulatory requirements e.g. Lock/Out Tag/Out, Fall protection, specific machine guarding requirements, industrial hygiene issues, material handling and the use of material handling equipment like chains/hoists and cranes, fire protection, powered work platforms and powered industrial equipment e.g. forklifts and other lift trucks, life safety, hazardous materials, PPE, electrical, welding, toxic and hazardous substances, record keeping and other risk based EHSS provisions as necessary to help assure a safe and healthy work environment;
- Establish a site safety committee and required training. Provide a means for facility personnel to report EHSS concerns and ensure effective follow-up.
- Maintain the site-specific Emergency Response and Evacuation program with periodic evaluation drills to assure the program’s effectiveness.
- Maintain a comprehensive personal protective equipment (PPE) program. Update the program as risk and hazard analysis deem necessary.
- Manage and ensure complete compliance with Dana’s Contractor Safety program to assure that all contractors performing work on site follow established facility EHSS requirements and that they follow and comply with OSHA requirements.
- Serve as the local lead for all related property inspections and fire loss control activities as directed by Dana Risk Management Services.
- Develop and maintain written compliance plans including SPCC, hazardous waste contingency, DOT security, etc.
- Provide compliance training and inspections, including SPCC, hazardous waste, universal waste, DOT, etc.
- Prepare and submit all required reports and notifications including biennial hazardous waste reports, PCB annual reports, EPCRA emergency planning notifications, emergency release notifications, MSDS reports, Tier II reports, Form R reports, etc.
- Assure the Dana facility conforms to Dana’s existing and new global environmental standards regarding air emissions and chlorinated solvent prohibitions.
- Regularly communicate the status of compliance, ISO14001 issues, Dana environmental directives, and other project work to the BU EHSS Leader.
- Assure continued registration status: ISO14001 certification and Participate in ISO14001 audits.
- Manage on-site remediation projects including permitting, sampling, analyses, reporting, etc.
- Assure continued conformance with the European end-of-life vehicle (ELV) directive.
- Interact with outside vendors, contractors, and/or consultants as necessary on environmental projects, assuring conformance to Dana policies and comply with regulations.
