Dana Canada Corporation is seeking an Prototype Technician at our Chatham location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup and operate presses, and other equipment to manufacture prototypes.
  • Development of heat shields following established procedures combined with 2D CAD work.
  • Interacting with prototype tool and laser cutting services suppliers.
  • Cutting and hammering heat shield flat blanks by hand.
  • Working overtime when needed.
  • Shift work may be required at times dependent on customer demand.
  • Order and track completion of prototype form and bead tools.
  • Review and approve prototype tool design.
  • Order laser-cut blanks.
  • Manufacturing of prototype shields from blank development to final product.
  • Handle PLM orders in Teamcentre.
  • Responsible for product final quality checks.
  • Complete computer SAP orders, part labelling and shipping.
  • Ensure assembled components and materials are available for every order.
  • Ensure recyclable tools are available for new projects.

 

  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Technician Diploma or equivalent technical certificate.
  • 7+ years of  Previous automotive experience.
  • Metal forming experience required, with crash forming an asset.
  • Blank development experience for crash forming process.
  • Familiar with automated stamping and crash forming lines.
  • General SAP knowledge.
  • Ability to work with your hands.
  • Experienced in hydraulic press operation.
  • Computer knowledge and experience with 2D CAD required.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must have good reading and writing skills.
