Test Project Engineer

Job Purpose

The function operates in the Off-Highway Drive and Motion Systems engineering organization.

This department is focused on research, new product development and product maintenance of heavy duty drivetrain products such as hydraulic and electric transmissions. 

To strengthen the hardware Verification & Validation team, we are looking for a 'Test Project Engineer' to join the test-lab.

The function

• As a “V&V - Test project Engineer” you are responsible for the preparation and execution of functional and endurance tests (24/7) of transmissions and components on electrical, hydraulic and diesel test systems. You ensure the progress of the test activities, with an eye for safety and a favorable result for the device under test.
• Analyze the test specifications and define the required test conditions and setups, in respect to the planning and available resources.
• Coordinate and participate in the construction or conversion of the test systems and the instrumentation of the test objects.
• Where necessary, design frames and tools using 3D design software and manage the procurement of the designed parts to realize the test setups.
• Analyze and interpret the test results & observations and build up in-depth knowledge.
• Report and carry out associated administration meticulously and share with the test requestor in accordance with the applicable procedures.
• You will report to the V&V team lead and work with, and on behalf of, engineering and production (mainly for Bruges, but also for Italy, Hungary and China), as well as external research centers, universities and customers.

Your profile

• You have a master's degree in electromechanical or automotive engineering. A bachelor with several years of experience in a similar technical environment also qualifies.
• Strong interest in vehicle drivetrains, both conventional and hybrid / electrified.
• You are a hands-on and all-round engineer who works analytically, accurately, qualitatively and project-based.
• Takes initiative, acts in a problem-solving & persistent manner and can independently carry out assignments & test projects from concept to completion.
• As a real team player, working with together with engineers and technicians, you have strong communication skills.
• You are fluent in Dutch and English.
• You have some experience with 3D drawing packages or strong interest. Knowledge of Creo is a plus
• Experience with Matlab is a plus.
• You are willing to travel occasionally and participate in on-call shifts during the weekend (1/5)
