Job Purpose

  • To complete pro-active and escalated re-active quality assurance activities as dictated by the needs of the business

 

  • Pro Active :
    • Evaluation and validation of potential new suppliers according to the Dana Global Audit Guideline and Supplier System Assessment.
    • Participation in the Technical Review Assessment as required.
    • Development of the Suppliers by following the APQP process for new products in development and / or in the Change Management process for modifications.
    • To ensure feasibility issues reported by the supplier are reviewed and resolved as early as possible in the process.
    • Keep up-to-date the Action Plan (Open Issues Status Report) for each project.
    • Improvement of the Supply Base by performing, for example, an on-site Process Series Review and / or system audits as required by projects needs, including follow-up of the corresponding action plans.
    • To secure the new product launch at supplier through the use of Dana’s Safe Launch Plan (SL110) from SOP + 90 Days.
    • To monitor the performance of the supplier base to ensure that the quality goals for purchased material are understood externally and internally, and that the suppliers continuously improve their processes to meet these quality targets.
    • Update Dana One Source as required.
    • Participate in the respective Regional/Global Commodity Strategy meetings for assigned commodity area.

 

  • Reactive :
    • Escalate / propose for Supplier Improvement Plan, New Business Hold or Exit suppliers not meeting Quality expectations.
    • Manage Supplier Improvement Process for the nominated suppliers.
    • Support the plants on escalated supplier issues from the SQA Engineer.
    • Ensure effective problem solving by the suppliers for Customer Pass Through non-conformities.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Duties

  • Report to the responsible Regional Supplier Development Manager/Director when major issues occur. (Ex. Project timing failure, production line stop, customer disturbance,….)
  • To analyze and arrange all information regarding quality problems to secure a good decision base.
  • To drive continuous improvements throughout the assigned supplier base.
  • To report the current status of all parts undergoing APQP through proactive discussions with Regional SD Mgt., Launch and Project teams.
  • In case the supplier cannot solve issues highlighted during suppliers APQP process, to collate all information required for decision making and escalate as appropriate within the organisation.
  • Update the Skills and Training Assessment for their respective role.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Purchasing in supplier selection and evaluation, performance measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • Carries out supplier system assessments at the suppliers' with reference to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, Special Process Modules, Continuous Quality Improvement requirements and any other additional requirements specific to the customer and the company.
  • Ensures the quality assurance of sourced products through Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including control plan development, product qualifications, corrective and preventative actions, and other related processes.
  • Ensures project and/or process control documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Ensure that all purchased parts are ready for PPAP approval to the appropriate level during the APQP process.
  • Creates, maintains, updates and releases in a timely manner, an Action Plan (Open Issue Status Report) for each project and / or supplier as needed.
  • Tracks any delays and issues in the Supplier’s process development and product conformity and ensure all analysis and recovery action plans are released and updated in a timely manner to avoid any delay in the PPAP submission date.
  • Report immediately to their direct manager and functional manager any risk (Quality, Delay, Capacity, etc ) on the projects they are responsible for and propose solutions.
  • Oversees the Supplier Improvement Process for any suppliers targeted within their assigned commodity.
  • Works with suppliers to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and lean principles to assure purchased components meet specifications.
  • Contributes to the achievement of regional goals/projects in quality.
  • Contributes to the advancement of product quality assurance by remaining current with new technology or areas of expertise.
  • Solve problems and monitor corrective measures on quality problems escalated from a plant Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer.
  • To be the voice of quality in their respective Regional/Global Commodity Strategy meetings.
  • When necessary to perform other assignments in his/her sphere of qualifications and work.
