Job Purpose
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Core Mandate
• Provide comprehensive support for engineering, performance and functional testing using dynamometer benches, thermal chambers for environmental testing, vibration tables for durability testing and broader testing capabilities.
• End-to-end involvement in testing complex systems, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
• Blending technical knowledge with operational oversight; not just execution, but also planning, analysis and resource distribution.
Prior to the Test: Emphasizes proactive planning; strong organizational skills needed to anticipate issues.
• Review and approve test plans to ensure they meet standards for safety, feasibility, and objectives.
• Develop test procedures and prepare test sequences (e.g., scripts or protocols for automated testing).
During the Test: High-pressure phase requiring quick thinking, technical depth, and team coordination. Knowledge of lab protocols is key.
• Assist assigned technicians in running test sequences—hands-on collaboration, not solo work.
• Troubleshoot test environment issues (e.g., equipment malfunctions, setup errors).
• Provide expertise to product owners for investigating product-related problems (e.g., failures in electronics or mechanics).
• Maintain, improve, and ensure functionality of the test bench—includes ongoing upgrades and preventive maintenance.
• Supervise all test cell activities: Leadership aspect, overseeing safety and compliance.
• Real-time validation of results: Monitor execution to confirm proper performance, allowing for immediate adjustments.
After the Test: Analytical and communicative focus; reports could influence product iterations, so precision in documentation is crucial.
• Review test data for success verification—analyze outputs to confirm validity and completeness.
• Write and review test reports: Document findings, insights, and recommendations clearly.
• Support program teams on failures: Root cause analysis and resolution guidance.
Education and Experience:Breadth in interdisciplinary knowledge is key.
• Bachelor’s in engineering (electrical or mechanical preferred but flexible for those with practical backgrounds)
• At least 5 years in testing complete embedded systems: Experience with integrated hardware-software setups is essential.
• Hands-on with complex mechatronic systems, including at least some of: High-voltage (HV) & low-voltage (LV) electronics, rotating machines (e.g., motors), magnetism, software, hydraulics, and thermodynamics.
Technical Knowledge:Role demands practical lab skills
• Lab equipment familiarity: Oscilloscope, multimeter, accelerometer, thermocouples & RTDs, flow meters, pressure transducers, etc.—standard tools for diagnostics and measurements.
• Data acquisition software: Proficiency in for scripting and automation with tools such as LabView and TestStand.
• Constant alignment of ongoing activities across different communication mediums: bench status logbook (Excel), test plan follower (Excel), project group chat (Teams), task management platform (JIRA)
Soft Skills and Attributes:
