Job Purpose
Oversee, provide leadership for and coordinate activities for production within the plant to safely achieve quality and productivity KPI targets. Develop problem solving teams, constantly monitor KPI performance, and initiate problem solving at once if hourly targets are missed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise all employees in your department and manage the flow of production while encouraging teamwork within the lines and across all shifts.
- Conduct, update, and assess employee training matrix. In charge of completing performance evaluations along with coach and counsel with hourly employees.
- Responsible for training validation of team members, safety of the shop floor, maintaining housekeeping, and general maintenance.
- Actively participate in all aspects of quality control as it’s related to daily production.
- Monitor scrap daily and initiate corrective actions to minimize scrap and achieve AOP targets.
- Verify and ensure employees follow work standards/First Piece Sheets, quality checkpoint sheets and all other production related documents are present at the point of use and up to date. Complete LPAs and Safety-First audits
- Coach and give disciplinary actions to employees when necessary.
- Forward thinking and self-motivated in relation to production floor/systems improvements.
- Involved in problem solving and corrective actions related to production floor/system improvements.
- Lead Shift Hand-off Meetings (discuss safety, quality, delivery, production, team performance, continuous improvement activities, scrap, machine down time)
- Partner, coach, lead, and direct Team Leaders across all shifts.
- Schedule and post overtime requirements when necessary.
- Responsible for monitoring vacation, attendance, and time-entry of employees in your department.
- Supports, enforces, and complies with all company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Education – High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelors preferred
- Proven experience as supervisor
- 3+ years manufacturing or assembly experience
- Automotive union experience
- Strong understanding of products and production processes
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and overtime based on customer needs
- Knowledge of quality control standards and systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with people.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of business problems
- Should have excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and deal with stressful situations
- Contributes to building a positive team spirit and displays a great attitude; team facilitation skills including conflict resolution
