Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to skilled trades and maintenance group resulting in better machine uptime and extended machine life.
  • Establish Priorities with Manufacturing Leadership, communicate to skilled trades and maintenance group and assign tasks accordingly.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve equipment downtime situations. Quickly and logically determine and resolve root problems.
  • Mentor others to use data and the scientific approach to problem solving.
  • Create an environment that continuously measures and improves equipment uptime.
  • Engage third party experts as appropriate to resolve challenging maintenance issues and to teach our skilled trades and maintenance group necessary new skills.
  • Manage maintenance work orders including; priority, assignment, estimated time to complete, and actual time to complete.
  • Ensure the skilled trades and maintenance group have the necessary tools and training required to support manufacturing.
  • Establish a process to measure and improve machine availability for our top 10 critical machines.
  • Urgently lead skilled trades and maintenance group in response to manufacturing downtime situation.
  • Effectively administer both the skilled trades and maintenance group including OT management, ADP management, etc.
  • Establish, Track and Communicate skilled trades and maintenance group performance trends.
  • Will be required to work across multiple shifts and/or weekends as determined by plant manager or designate.
  • Ensure appropriate leadership and development of team: define clear objectives, allocate resources, monitor activities, provide developmental opportunities etc.
  • Maintain ISO 14001 standards across facility
  • Encourages and implements team member involvement

 

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment
  • Union experience preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience in maintenance and an electro-mechanical background
  • Background in preventative maintenance.
  • Possess the ability to recognize improvement opportunities and the ambition to make a difference.
  • Proven ability to solve problems in a logical fashion that identifies and resolves true root cause.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of automation and assembly processes, including understanding of PLC's.
  • Ability to influence, escalate issues and ideas, and persuade team and positively manage conflict.
  • New product launch experience preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated people management abilities and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work extra hours when necessary.
